Born in Badajoz (Spain) in 1969. He received the B.Sc. degree in Computer Science in 1991 from the Univeristy of Extremadura, Spain, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Granada, Spain, in 1994 and 2003, respectively. He is currently a Research Professor with the Department of Computer Science at the University of Extremadura (Spain).
He is currently a collaborator of the Computational Intelligence research group at the University of Granada and his research interest includes fuzzy modeling, machine learning, model-based fuzzy control and hybridization of soft-computing techniques. He is a reviewer for the IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, Part B and Fuzzy Sets and Systems journals and a Member of the European Society of Fuzzy Logic and Technology (EUSFLAT).
He has been a visitant professor with the Department of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton (United Kingdom) in 1999, and with the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Granada (Spain) in 2001, 2002, 2006, and 2007.
